Panther Glades Appraisal Mapping (Hendry County)
Approximate wetland boundaries were set on 54,000 acres located in south central Florida. The Panther Glades project was part of a property acquisition program sponsored by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP). Prior to the groundtruthing, GIS data, including digital orthophotography, Florida Land Use Cover Forms and Classification System maps, National Wetlands Inventory maps, and Soil Surveys were evaluated.Field reconnaissance included verification of the collaborative information and collection of ecological data including wetland plant species, hydric soil indicators, and hydrologic conditions.Deliverables included general wetland community characterizations, wetland assessment, and approximate wetland boundary maps produced in GIS.
